Ingersoll Rand opened new manufacturing facility in India

Ingersoll Rand has inaugurated its greenfield manufacturing facility in Mahindra World City, near Chennai.
The new manufacturing facility reinforces Ingersoll Rand’s overall growth strategy to drive innovation, technology and product development specifically catering to markets such as industrial efficiency, transportation, food security, environmental control in buildings and energy management. Products and solutions manufactured in this facility will be for both the Indian as well as global markets.
Talking about the new manufacturing facility, Venkatesh Valluri, Chairman and President, Ingersoll Rand India said, “India is a strategic market for Ingersoll Rand globally. With an established presence of around 100 years in the country, the new facility is part of the company’s overall growth strategy to drive technology innovation and product development to serve local and global markets.”

The new Ingersoll Rand manufacturing facility will manufacture a wide range of equipment including bus and truck air conditioners and commercial HVAC products. The delivery of products manufactured and distributed from the site will begin in May this year.
The new manufacturing unit is spread over a green belt area of 15200 sq. m and holds a gold green building certification. It endeavours for harmony with nature and has considered ecological aspects such as solar street lighting and rain water harvesting. The facility envelops various energy conserving techniques which reduces energy consumption and carbon emissions. It will provide an ecologically sensitive, energy-saving, waste reducing and a healthy environment for employees. With this facility, the company will generate direct and indirect employment to over 500 people located in and around the area once it reaches full capacity. 
Besides the new manufacturing facility, the company’s operations in India include two manufacturing facilities in Naroda (near Ahmedabad) and Sahibabad (near Delhi) and two Engineering and Technology Centres at Bangalore and Chennai. With a work force close to 2000, Ingersoll Rand has presence in more than 18 locations in India.
