NTPC plans to invest $62bln on 30 GW of nuclear power

Indian state power company NTPC is looking to build 30 gigawatts (GW) of nuclear power capacity over the next two decades, three times more than expected, at a cost of $62 billion. The country's top power producer, which mainly runs coal-fired plants, is seeking land for its ambitious plan in a country where local resistance to such projects is high. NTPC was targeting 10 GW of nuclear capacity but tripled the goal after the government this month announced plans to open up the sector to foreign and private investment.

Chennai to build British-era arch canal

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) is set to demolish and reconstruct the British-era arch canal in Pulianthope at a cost of ₹ 17.32 crore. As part of the project, encroachments along the canal at Raja Thottam and Demellows Road will be removed to facilitate the construction of an open-type stormwater drain. The 650-metre-long and 3.6-metre-wide closed canal has deteriorated over time, with encroachments blocking its course. While parts of it, including Munuswamy Canal in Demellows Road, have been converted into open drains, the part directing rainwater to Gandhi Nagar Canal remains blocked.

Andhra to build two waste-to-energy plants by 2026

The Andhra Pradesh Government plans to eliminate dumping yards by October 2026 by setting up waste processing units in all mandal and urban centres. Plans include two waste-to-energy plants, one in Nellore (₹ 330 crore, 10 MW, 620 TPD) and another in Rajahmundry (₹ 340 crore, 12 MW, 640 TPD). HP to build ₹ 80 crore ropeway project in Kullu

Pathankot-Mandi four-lane project report nears completion

₹ 55,000 crores Assam road projects to commence soon

BMC set deadline for cable-stayed ROB project

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) set an October 2026 deadline for completing the missing link project between South Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi and Haji Ali. The new cable-stayed Road Over Bridge (ROB) along with a second flyover is now slated for completion by October 31, 2026. Both bridges are designed to feature four lanes and are part of a ₹ 745 crore project aimed at alleviating traffic bottlenecks.These projects aim to replace the century-old Mahalaxmi Bridge and improve traffic flow in the areas. The two new bridges will provide better access between Mahalaxmi Station and Worli. Further this new structure on Keshavrao Khadye Road, will be BMC’s first cable-stayed flyover over railway tracks.

NHAI receives 10 bidders for Agra-Gwalior project

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has received bids from 10 infrastructure companies for the 88-km Agra-Gwalior high-speed corridor, to be built under a build-operate-transfer model at an estimated cost of ₹ 4,613 crore. Bidders include IRB Infrastructure Developers, Adani Enterprises, PNC Infratech, and Dilip Buildcon, among others. Approved in August 2024 as part of eight national high-speed corridors, the project aims to boost capacity on the Agra-Gwalior stretch of NH-44 by over two times.

₹ 4,030 crores proposed for Ratan Tata road project in Telangana

The Telangana government has announced plans to construct a greenfield radial road, naming it Ratan Tata Road, after the late industrialist. This road will connect Outer Ring Road’s (ORR) Raviryal (Tata Interchange) to the proposed RRR (Amanagal) via Future City. The project is valued at approximately ₹ 4,030 crores and will span 41.50 kilometres. The construction of the Ratan Tata Road will be carried out in two phases. The first phase involves building a 19.2 km stretch from ORR’s Raviryal to Meerkhanpet, with an allocated budget of ₹ 1,665 crores. The second phase will cover a distance of 22.30 km from Meerkhanpet (Future City) to RRR (Amanagal), with a budget of ₹ 2,365 crores.

₹ 106 crore approved for Belagavi road development project

A key project in the sanctioned list is the ₹ 40 crore Lolasur bridge on the Ghataprabha River, a critical infrastructure upgrade that will prevent Gokak town from being cut off during annual floods.

₹ 327 crore approved for 2.55-km flyover in Andhra Pradesh

The much-awaited project, sanctioned by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, will enhance connectivity between National Highways 16 and 216A, easing congestion and improving road safety.

Alwar highway project to feature 23 animal underpasses

To ensure a balance between infrastructure development and wildlife conservation, the 86-km-long, six-lane highway between Paniyala Mod in Kotputli and Barodamev in Alwar will include 23 animal underpasses for the safe movement of leopards, tigers, and other wildlife. The ₹ 1,600 crore project, planned by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), will enhance connectivity between Rajasthan and Chandigarh, linking directly to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Construction began in March 2024 and is expected to be completed by 2026.

₹ 42,000 cr to invest in Arunachal highway project

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju asserted that the Arunachal Frontier Highway, which will connect 12 districts along the India-China boundary, will be a "game changer" for the border areas of the state. He said nearly ₹ 42,000 crore will be invested into the project which is the “highest allocation ever made by the Centre for a single project”. The Frontier Highway is going to transform the border areas of the state,” Rijiju said. The Arunachal Frontier Highway (AFH), officially notified as the National Highway NH-913 and also called Bomdila-Vijaynagar Highway (BVH), will start from Bomdila and pass through Nafra, Huri and Monigong.
