TN to focus on attracting investments in manufacturing [Sep 2011]

Investors from Korea, Japan and Thailand have evinced interest in investing in the State, particularly close to the major ports. Tamil Nadu Government to continue its focus on attracting international investments into manufacturing sector. Presenting the Budget for 2011-12, the state finance minister, O Panneerselvam said the Govt. decided to strengthen the manufacturing sector and encourage foreign investments into automobile industry, IT and other key areas. The minister also informed that the Govt. is discussing with industrial houses to attract more than Rs. 21,000 crore of investments through 22 major projects.
