Tata Steel achieves one million injury-free man hours

Tata Steel has achieved one million injury-free man hours at their fabrication yard for the 12-million-ton Kalinga Nagar steel complex in Jajpur district of Orissa. The rare feat was accomplished on October 8, 2009. The Rs 18,000-crore mega integrated steel plant requires 2.50 lakh tons of structural work.
Tata Steel initiated a Fabrication & Structural Yard to pre-fabricate large delivery cycle oriented steel structural with intricate shapes, complex massive sizes and weight structural in collaboration with L&T near Kalinga Nagar steel complex. The infrastructure was created with an investment of over Rs 7 crore with power supply, weigh bridge, high mast towers. L&T has bought in heavy machinery like gantry cranes, mobile cranes, welding generators, grinding and drilling equipment.
