SANY inaugurates manufacturing facility in Pune
Largest manufacturing facility outside of China for the Asia Pac region; Plans to expand network to 15 dealerships by 2012; Aims to notch up turnover in India business from US $ 25 million to US $ 1.5 Billion by 2015
ANY Group, a Chinese construction machinery manufacturer opens their first manufacturing facility in Pune. With presence in over 150 countries with 30 overseas subsidiaries, and a turnover of US $ 4.5 billion, the new facility underpins SANY Group’s commitment to developing its operations in India business. The new facility was inaugurated by Sachin Ahir, Minister of State for Industries, Mining, Environment and Housing, Zhang Chunxian, Governor of China and Zhang Yan, Chinese Ambassador to India.
The state of the art manufacturing facility has been set up on an area of 330000 sq. meters and has a built up area of 37000 sq. meters. This facility will include a comprehensive manufacturing set-up, product design and customization center, sales, renting, service, storage, logistics and full fledged R&D centre. The India centre will manufacture Trailer-mounted Concrete Pump, Truck-mounted Concrete Pump, concrete Mixer Truck, Concrete Batching Plant and Motor Grader and Cranes.
India, being it’s second manufacturing facility in Asia, the company’s expanded capacity and R&D centre will enable it to create and develop new construction machinery technologies and to custom-tailor these to suit specific Indian market conditions. The new facilities are designed to supply equipments, components, design and R&D to the Indian marketplace and additional Asian African and Middle Eastern markets.
Xiang Wenbo, Founder and President of SANY Group said, “Availability of a skilled work force, presence of good logistics and support from the Maharashtra government were reasons for the choice of Pune as our first offshore destination in India. This investment confirms our long term commitment to the country.”
SANY first entered India in 2003 and has since then been involved in supply of construction machinery to large scale infrastructure projects in India including Imperial Twin Towers, Adani Power Plant, Mumbai International Airport Expansion, Brahmaputra Rail Bridge Project, Delhi Metro project, Indira Gandhi International Airport Project.
According to the Company, between 2004 and 2007, India’s earthmoving and construction equipment industry’s revenue has grown at over 40% each year, reaching US $2.3 billion in 2007. This figure is expected to reach US $12-13 billion in 2015. And SANY already enjoys a 25% market share across products.

Our India facility will significantly enhance our ability to deliver industry-leading, real time solutions and will help us continue to meet the demands of our rapidly growing customer base both nationally & internationally.” “With the new manufacturing facility, we aim to aggressively expand our customer base in India over the next 12-18 months”, he added.
Currently SANY India’s network boasts of 12 Offices, 6 Inventory stores and 7 dealerships. The Company plans to grow its network to include 15 Dealerships in India. With this expansion strategy, the group expects to reach revenues worth US $ 1.5 billion by the year 2015.
