“India to be a World Leader” [June 2012]

June 19, 2012 10:28 am

The population in the next 30 years certainly can take us to the top in the world map and if the government initiates support to put the infrastructure in place, things would take a positive turn especially on the power front- Anil Joshi, VP – Sales & Marketing, Marks Pryor
Automotive industry evolvesThe impact of globalisation in the year 1992-1993 benefited the automotive industry tremendously. This factor paved way for several multinational companies like General Motors, Toyota among others to enter the Indian market. Meanwhile the auto component sector in India took shape owing to the downfall of the manufacturing sector in Europe.
Fundamentally, the auto component manufacturing along with automotive contributes immensely towards major growth in the Indian market which is helping the business to grow manifold. Emphasising on this fact, Anil Joshi, VP – Sales & Marketing, Marks Pryor said, “The Indian industry is on the right track of attaining manufacturing excellence. The growing export numbers are a clear indication of its growth. India is able to manufacture and design parts as per the market requirements in the world”. Moreover several companies from Europe and US are sourcing their components from India and are also setting up their office for designing their components which is an encouraging sign. A recent example is Rolls Royce setting up its plant in Bangalore through a strategic partnership with HAL. The joint venture company International Aerospace Manufacturing Private Limited (IAMPL) has set up a production facility of about 7,200 square metres where components of Trent family of civil aero engines, marine, and energy gas turbines will be produced commencing this year.
Be CommittedAs one of the most promising and growing industry, the Indian automotive industry has to overcome several challenges to cater to the growing domestic market. Lack of commitment is one of the major drawbacks that the sector faces. Mr. Joshi shares his opinion, “If every Indian works for a desired goal with commitment, things will certainly change. The difference between the Indian scenario and outside India is that overseas people are determined to their commitment don’t commit if it’s not possible. In India, many times we are quite optimistic and set targets which we feel are tough to achieve. My personal opinion is that we should commit what is achievable. Additionally, the infrastructure facilities also need to be improved”.
Mr. Joshi adds, “India is a country with lot of talent and there are many contributing their services abroad. Additionally we are brilliant and excel in most of the fields. Focusing on the main activities would help us overcome these impending challenges”.
Opportunities GaloreThe manufacturing sector plays an essential role leading to creation of job opportunities. Moreover the population which was considered a weakness once upon a time is becoming a major attraction for other countries to enter the consumer market in India. The country has majority of population in the age group of 20 – 50. “The population in the next 30 years certainly can take us to the top in the world map and if the government initiates support to put the infrastructure in place, things would take a positive turn especially on the power front. In Maharashtra particularly we still struggle on supplying power on an uninterrupted basis whereas the neighbouring states like Gujarat have gone ahead of us in this field. Basically willpower from the political leaders who are ruling the states and country need to take an optimistic approach as a step towards development”, Mr. Joshi opines.
Commenting on 100 million jobs in the next 10 years, an optimistic Mr. Joshi said, “There is certainly huge scope for it. The Marks Pryor group is quite focussed on expanding its business that would generate over 5000 jobs in the years to follow”. He has also added that promoting entrepreneurship would be a great idea. Encouraging fresh engineers to set up their own business activity rather than hunting for a job would help in creating employment for around 20-25 people which would curb unemployment to an extent and help the industry.
India is the Best“As an Indian organisation we firmly believe that what we manufacture is the best and it can be used in any part of the world because what we manufacture in Pirangut, Pune is not only supplied in India but also to the developed nations across the globe”, concludes Mr. Joshi.
