Recyclekaro innovative plasma furnace unit develops sustainable metal extraction

March 12, 2024 6:59 pm

The Plasma Furnace Technology Unit creates high temperatures ranging from 5000 to 1000 degrees Celsius, allowing for quicker processing times and higher metal recovery rates than conventional procedures.

Recyclekaro, a leading e-waste and lithium-ion battery recycling company in India, is preparing to launch the country’s first Plasma Furnace Technology Unit for high-value metal extraction. This ground breaking achievement represents a big step forward in recycling and resource recovery, putting India at the forefront of environmental innovation.

Recyclekaro uses Plasma Furnace Technology, a cleaner and more sustainable technique of metal extraction, to recover precious metals such as gold, silver, platinum, palladium, and rare earth metals from electronic waste and industrial byproducts. The facility’s current capacity is 7500 metric tonnes, but with the addition of a new plasma furnace, it will increase to 75,000 metric tonnes per year. Given China’s current dominance, accounting for around 85 percent of rare earth elements (REE) production, Recyclekaro is aiming to make a notable contribution to rare earth elements production, with plans to achieve up to 1 to 1.5 MT per annum.

Rajesh Gupta, Founder and Director of Recyclekaro, said, “The introduction of India’s first Plasma Furnace Technology Unit will represent a significant leap forward in our mission to revolutionize waste management and resource recovery. This innovative technology will help extract rare earth metals from already generated e-waste, help us conserve resources, and reduce our dependency on imports.”

Plasma Furnace Technology generates high temperatures of 5000 to 1000 degrees Celsius, allowing for faster processing periods and higher metal recovery rates than older processes. This ecologically friendly technology is predicted to boost efficiency and production by 90 percent, aligning with Recyclekaro’s sustainability aims and regulatory criteria.

The Plasma Furnace Technology Unit will feature cutting-edge machinery, ensuring cost-effective and eco-friendly operations while complying with stringent environmental and safety standards. This advancement will not only present economic opportunities for India but also contribute to the circular economy, job creation, and technological innovation.
