Synergy Quantum and C-DOT partner to build drone infrastructure

The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) and Synergy Quantum India have teamed together to create cutting-edge quantum solutions for drone-based networks in an effort to deepen India’s leadership in secure communication technologies.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by Synergy Quantum India Private Limited and the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the telecom research and development division of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India, to collaborate on the development of drone-based Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) systems.
The project aims to achieve Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 or higher by implementing the polarisation-encoded, decoy-based BB84 protocol. By developing domestic capabilities in secure communication technology, the partnership advances India’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” objective.
As per the MoU, C-DOT and Synergy Quantum will collaborate to create QKD solutions that are tailored for drone platforms, submit joint research applications for grants both domestically and abroad, and disseminate the results via academic journals. Knowledge sharing through professional lectures, workshops, and events is another aspect of the cooperation.Dr Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration in building secure digital infrastructure. Jay Oberoi, CEO of Synergy Quantum India, said the partnership could position India as a leader in quantum-secure drone communications.
Senior officials from both organisations were present when the memorandum of understanding was signed. It is anticipated that the project will make it possible to implement next-generation, quantum-safe communication systems for secure government operations, critical infrastructure, and defence.
