SanDisk introduces all-rounder WD_BLACK SN8100 SSD

SanDisk introduces the WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe SSD, a PCIe Gen 5.0 drive built to power faster gaming, creation, and AI performance with top-tier speed and efficiency.

Setting a new standard for client SSDs, SanDisk® unveiled the WD_BLACK™ SN8100 NVMe™ SSD with PCIe® Gen 5.0 technology, an internal SSD delivering speeds up to 14,900 MB/s and capacities up to 8TB, for gaming, content creation and artificial intelligence (AI) workloads.

The SanDisk WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe™ PCIe® Gen 5.0 SSD is built for PC gamers looking to add a combination of speed and reliability to their rig and for professionals needing a PC storage solution for workflows and AI applications. The PCIe® Gen 5.0 SSD is 100% more power efficient than SanDisk’s PCIe® GEN 4.0 SSD.

Todd Lewellen, vice president of the client ecosystem group at Intel, said, “Technologies like the Intel Core Ultra processors combined with WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe PCIe Gen 5.0 SSDs will support the development of PCs and workstations, speeding up play, productions or projects for gamers, creators and professionals.”

As a PCIe® Gen 5.0 power efficiency device, the WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe™ SSD features SanDisk BiCS8 TLC 3D CBA NAND technology with a low-power profile and thermal performance to support system design without additional cooling.

Key features include:
• PCIe® Gen 5.0 x4 NVMe™ M.2 SSD technology.
• Sequential speeds of up to 14,900 MB/s read, 14,000 MB/s write, and over 2,300,000 IOPS of random performance (2TB – 4TB models).
• 100% more power efficient than SanDisk’s PCIe® Gen 4.0, with an average operating power of 7W or under.
• Up to 2,400 TBW endurance (4TB) for tasks such as gaming, video editing, and AI workloads.
• Storage for games, projects, AI applications, datasets, and libraries.

In addition to the WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe™ with PCIe® Gen 5.0 SSD, SanDisk is offering an optional WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe™ with PCIe® Gen 5.0 SSD with a heatsink. The heatsink version features a passive cooling design engineered with anodised aluminium and a customisable RGB LED.

Pricing and availability
The WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe™ SSD is available through IT reseller partners and e-commerce platforms in 1TB (INR 17,499), 2TB, and 4TB capacity options. The WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe™ with heatsink will also be available this fall in 1TB (INR 18,999), 2TB, and 4TB capacities. An 8TB WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe™ SSD and a WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe™ SSD with a heatsink are expected to be available later this year.
