Socomec targets smart manufacturing across six key market segments

By August 1, 2025 7:51 pm IST

Socomec, a specialist in low-voltage (LV) power switching, monitoring, and power conversion solutions, is committed to managing energy and protecting people, equipment, and installations. The company caters to six key market segments: Data Centres, Healthcare, Industry, Infrastructure, Commercial Buildings, and Renewable Energy—with data centres leading demand due to their need for uninterrupted power, energy efficiency, and real-time monitoring. Rakesh Razdan, General Manager – Plant Head at Socomec India, highlights the company’s 24/7 expert services designed to ensure reliability and support for end-users’ critical equipment.

What are the latest innovations Socomec has introduced in switchgear, metering and monitoring solutions to meet the needs of next-gen manufacturing and infrastructure?

We design and manufacture products with sustainability and digitisation as a priority. Our latest innovation, ATyS a M, ranging from 25 – 63 A, is an automatic transfer switch engineered for seamless power source switching in demanding environments. It is designed for safety, simplicity, and reliability, which makes it suitable for commercial and industrial applications. We also offer advanced power quality meters, such as the DIRIS A-100 and A-200, for power management. These panel-mounted meters are fully customisable and deliver best-in-class accuracy, making them an ideal solution for data centres, industrial facilities, and buildings.

With modernised production facilities, an expanding product portfolio, and strong R&D capabilities, we aim to help businesses optimise energy management while reducing their environmental footprint and supporting their sustainability goals.

How do your solutions support the shift toward smart manufacturing and efficient energy management across industrial and commercial environments?

We have a comprehensive portfolio of resilient, sustainable, and digitally connected power solutions designed for industrial and commercial applications.

For uninterrupted power, the MASTERYS GP4 UPS offers superior reliability with high MTBF, and front-access modular architecture for easy maintenance. The MASTERYS BC+ UPS offers a compact, cost-effective solution with simplified installation and flexible battery configuration, making it ideal for retail, supermarkets, and smaller commercial facilities. In harsh industrial environments, the MASTERYS IP+ ensures rugged performance with IP31/IP52 protection, wide temperature tolerance, and certified immunity to overvoltage and EMI. The MODULYS XL and DELPHYS XL UPS systems offer scalable power, hot-swappable modules, and no single point of failure, delivering flexibility and continuous uptime. These systems are supported by 24/7 remote monitoring, diagnostics, and service contracts for proactive maintenance.

To support load transfer needs, our ATyS automatic transfer switches (25–6300 A) do seamless switching between power sources, enhancing reliability in both industrial and commercial setups.

Our rack-mounted Static Transfer Systems (STS) enable fast switching between dual UPS sources, within the ITIC curve. These are available in hot-swappable versions with bypass and offer simplified load connection.

For energy and power quality monitoring, DIRIS Digiware, DIRIS Q800, and DIRIS A-40 provide complete, real-time insights enabling operational efficiency.

Digital tools like SoLink (24/7 UPS monitoring and diagnostics) and the SoLive mobile app offer real-time visibility and proactive service, aligned with the Industry 5.0 vision of resilience, sustainability, and human-centric innovation.

How are you addressing the rising demand for safety, compliance, and digital connectivity in electrical components?

Our electrical components and systems are engineered to meet the most rigorous safety certifications, including IEC standards. Our solutions, such as automatic transfer switches (ATyS), UPS systems, and protection devices, have built-in diagnostics, fail-safe mechanisms, and robust isolation technologies for maximum safety for people and assets.

Our products are fully compliant with global and local regulations, including RoHS, CE marking, and energy efficiency directives. We conduct regular third-party audits and certifications to guarantee consistent performance and regulatory alignment.

Our meters, monitoring systems, and UPS solutions are designed for seamless integration into smart energy and building management systems. We support open communication protocols to make it easy to connect and control assets. Advanced cloud-based monitoring platforms and IoT-enabled devices deliver real-time data, predictive maintenance insights, and remote management capabilities.

Which end-user segments are driving the most demand?

We specialise in six key market segments: Data Centres, Healthcare, Industry, Infrastructure, Commercial Buildings, and Renewable Energy. Among these, data centres continue to drive strong demand due to their critical need for uninterrupted power, high energy efficiency, and real-time monitoring.

The pharmaceutical and FMCG sectors are also strong, driven by automation, stringent compliance needs, and the push for sustainable manufacturing practices. These industries require clean, stable power, and robust monitoring to protect sensitive processes and maintain operational continuity.

EV infrastructure is an emerging segment gaining momentum, with increasing focus on energy storage systems, DC protection, and smart load transfer, making it a fast-growing area for Socomec’s power and switching solutions.

End users increasingly demand faster delivery and highly customised solutions. How are manufacturers coping with this need for agility and flexibility, and what role can design standardisation or modularity play in improving delivery timelines?

We have increased the localisation of products to ensure timely resource availability, reduce the impact on customer deliveries, and address the challenge of resource availability. We pre-manufacture standardised parts in batches. Additionally, the development of modular product platforms, such as sider assemblies, has reduced the cycle time (CT) of product manufacturing, addressed specific customer requirements, and increased overall product efficiency. Furthermore, the outsourcing of certain products can increase productivity without compromising product quality, ensuring continued alignment with customer demand.

With the constant fluctuation in the prices of copper, aluminium, and polymers, how are manufacturers managing cost stability? Are there any innovations or procurement strategies being adopted to mitigate this challenge without compromising product quality?

Manufacturers are increasingly adopting smarter procurement strategies, such as long-term supplier agreements, diversified sourcing, and local alternatives to manage global volatility in the prices of raw materials. We adopt a demand-driven procurement approach by optimising inventory levels and maintaining lean safety stock, which helps us respond efficiently to market fluctuations while maintaining a consistent supply to our customers. We have improved collaboration across our vendor network, resulting in shorter component lead times, delivery reliability and operational agility. These measures help stabilise supply without compromising product quality. Our customer-centric approach makes us design every product ergonomically, efficiently, and durably, using high-quality materials and user-friendly features to exceed expectations.
