Energy efficiency is the increasing concern around the world. Much of energy consumption implies increasing carbon footprint endangering the environment. Energy-efficient manufacturing means linking energy and production data. This will help to analyze and optimize energy consumption as well as the energy productivity of machines, plants, and processes. The operating procedures like scheduling of shut-downs and start-ups scheduled production floor and regular maintenance also can lower industrial energy cost.

Management of energy flows within a factory relies on measurement quantities in order to formulate targets. IoT based real-time monitoring systems is an effective measure to analyse data for energy usage. It provides the optimization of energy supply needs and consumption. This will result in CO2 emission reduction and factory operation costs. Adding new robots doing inspection can enable direct energy savings for manufacturing activities in factories. Being energy efficient is the key to helping companies achieve sustainability goals, reducing costs and ultimately making them more competitive, and resilient. On this note, OEM Update hosted a round table conference on “Energy efficient ideas for manufacturing” on 25th May 2022 where industry experts discussed about opportunities, using automation and systems installed in plants, implementing manufacturing efficiency improvements, enhancing productivity of Indian factories, and move on to higher level growth.
