India has become a promising manufacturing destination in the defence and aerospace sector. India used to be a major importer of weapons and defence systems. Recently, the 14th edition of Aero India witnessed over 800 defence companies, including MSMEs and start-ups, present their products and technologies from India and abroad. It opened new avenues of employment.

Indigenous manufacturing of aero-engines is the need of the hour for the aerospace sector to achieve complete self-reliance. There is a concerted approach to the indigenous design and development of essential weapon systems using technologies like AI, robotics and IoT. With India expected to become the world’s third-largest aviation market by 2024, smart factories and industry 4.0 technologies hold the key to this sector’s future. Industry 4.0 has the potential to revolutionise future manufacturing in India. Machine Learning technology has a variety of applications in aerospace and beyond.
