EMO Hannover 2025 gears up to redefine global manufacturing
By Staff Report July 10, 2025 5:22 pm IST
EMO Hannover 2025, the global stage for metalworking innovation, runs from September 22 to 26. This year the focus is on automation, AI and sustainable manufacturing driving the next leap in industrial productivity.
In preparation for EMO Hannover 2025, international trade journalists from 28 countries met in Frankfurt on July 10–11 for a preview of what exhibitors will unveil at the world’s leading trade fair for production technology, scheduled for September 22–26 in Hannover, Germany.
Held under the theme Innovate Manufacturing, EMO 2025 will feature around 1,500 exhibitors from 40 countries. Organised by the German Machine Tool Builders’ Association (VDW), the event showcases the full value chain of metalworking from machine tools and production systems to precision tools, additive processes, software, and automation.
“As a platform for dialogue between all international players in the industry manufacturers and users alike it is unique in the world, because nowhere else do visitors encounter so much international expertise as at an EMO event,” says Dr. Markus Heering, Executive Director, VDW.
Two years ago, the show welcomed around 92,000 visitors from nearly 140 countries. Its primary audience includes decision-makers from sectors such as automotive, aerospace, medical technology, energy, electronics, and general mechanical engineering.

Strategic Focus Areas at EMO 2025
Automation
Automation is a key response to labour shortages and high-quality standards. EMO 2025 will showcase solutions such as pallet changers, robots, autonomous factories, and integrated ancillary processes like cleaning, labelling, and measuring.
“Automation should be easy to operate, be flexibly adaptable to the individual needs of the users, and be capable of being integrated in manufacturing from series production through to economical single-piece production,” explains Dr. Heering.
Sustainability
As climate regulations tighten and customer expectations rise, sustainability is becoming essential. The Sustainability Area in Hall 15 will highlight solutions for energy efficiency, circular economy, and lifecycle management.
“Investments in new machines lead to energy savings of around 25 percent,” notes Dr. Heering. “Together with other organisations, the VDW has been working on a basis for calculating carbon footprints. This has resulted in a standardised form that is in extremely high demand among customers. Of course, we will also present this in the Sustainability Area.”
Digitalisation & Artificial Intelligence
Digitalisation and AI are reshaping how production is planned and executed. The AI Hub@EMO2025 in Hall 6 will offer real-world demonstrations of AI in manufacturing, featuring researchers and experts to engage with visitors.“EMO exhibitors are invited to communicate their best practices and network with the AI Hub@EMO2025 to give visitors a complete picture of the future of production with artificial intelligence,” says Dr. Heering.
Daily P.O.P. Talks at the EMO Lecture Forum in Hall 12 will explore applications of AI, data security, automation, and policy frameworks through lectures, panels, and interviews.
Responding to Global Industrial Shifts
EMO 2025 addresses widespread industry challenges: rising costs, investor caution, demand for green technologies, ageing workforces, and the need for ongoing training. Automation and digital tools are enabling smarter, faster, and more sustainable production.
“The products and services on offer from the EMO exhibitors form the basis for the all-round modernisation of the industry. After three years of recession and a major investment slowdown, at least here in Germany, the exhibitors are offering plenty of impetus for investment in production with new developments and new solutions,” says Dr. Heering.
Supporting Program Highlights
Additive Manufacturing Area (Hall 12): Showcasing cutting-edge applications in 3D printing.
Special Education Showcase (Hall 7): Led by Nachwuchsstiftung Maschinenbau, this zone presents innovative vocational training aligned with today’s tech and AI needs.
Startup Area (Hall 6): Young companies will present forward-looking technologies shaping the industry’s future.
“As EMO organisers, we are making every effort to present the crucial factors that will ensure progress at the trade fair so that we remain at the cutting edge together with our exhibitors and visitors,” adds Dr. Heering.
EMO Hannover 2025 invites suppliers and users to embrace innovation and rethink manufacturing for a smarter, greener, and more efficient future.
