By December 14, 2016 11:38 am IST

HARTING Applied Technologies, a recognised specialist in the field of tool manufacturing, won the “Excellence in Production” competition for the second time in the “Internal Tool Manufacture up to 50 Employees” category. Earlier the company won this category in 2014.

HARTING Applied Technologies, a part of the HARTING Technology Group, develops, constructs and manufactures high-precision injections moulds, injection moulding tools and punching or bending tools for the electrical and automobile industries. Applications for its products range from large housing components for plastic and aluminium connectors to micro-injection moulding components with ultra-high surface quality requirements.

“The award is a credit to our employees, who produce premium quality products. I am delighted that we have won this prestigious competition,” said Dr. Volker Franke, Managing Director of HARTING Applied Technologies. “The judges were particularly impressed by HARTING’s structured approach to strategy development, setting goals in consultation with employees.”

The company allows individual groups to manage improvement internally when processing production orders, using specific continuous improvement methods. Another major plus is the use of extremely high quality machines and facilities in all areas of production.

Together with an expert panel of judges, the Fraunhof Institute for Production Technology (IPT) and the Aachen RWTH Tool Machine Laboratory (WZL) came up with a list of the best tool and mould production businesses across four categories based on a detailed comparison, also making on-site visits. The ten judges from the fields of industry, politics and science then chose the twelve finalists, category winners and overall winner. A total of 279 tool and mould production businesses took part in the competition, now in its 13th year.
