Samsung begins laptop production in India at Greater Noida Factory

Korean electronics major Samsung has started production of laptops in India at its Greater Noida factory, sources aware of the development said.
Samsung has been making feature phones, smartphones, wearables, and tablets at its Greater Noida factory. Samsung has commenced laptop production in India at its Greater Noida factory, expanding its manufacturing presence beyond phones and tablets.
During a recent meeting, India’s Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Samsung’s Southwest Asia President and CEO, JB Park, discussed Samsung’s ongoing expansion in India. According to a statement made by the minister, Samsung is increasing its manufacturing of advanced technology devices in India, citing the country’s talent and innovation.
Samsung has a long history of manufacturing in India, having established one of the first global electronics facilities there in 1996. The company is also exploring new avenues for production. Earlier this year, TM Roh, Samsung Electronics President and Head of Mobile eXperience (MX) Business, announced that the company is preparing to start manufacturing laptops in India.
“Samsung has expanded its manufacturing portfolio. It has started manufacturing laptops in India at its Greater Noida factory. It has plans to start manufacturing more devices in the country,” a source told PTI.
