JSW Steel registered Highest Ever Quarterly Crude Steel production
SW Steel registered highest ever quarterly crude steel production of 1.6 million tons in Q4 FY 2010. Growth in crude steel production is 66% over corresponding quarter of last year and 9% sequentially. The Company also achieved the highest ever quarterly production of 0.97 million tons for Rolled Flat and 0.32 million tons for Rolled Long products.
The Company has commissioned the phase I (3.5 MTPA) of the state-of-the art new Hot Strip Mill at Vijaynagar Works on 28th March. This mill can roll up to 2100 mm width (widest in India) and thickness range of 1.5 mm to 25 mm, which has been supplied by Mitsubishi-Hitachi of Japan. The Mill is equipped with new technology for shape control, level 2 & 3 automation, which has capacity to produce steel for special application in Automobiles, Boilers, Structural, Oil & Gas pipelines etc.
The mill is under trial production. On completion of phase II, the capacity of mill will further go up to 5 MTPA and will also enable JSW to convert slabs in to value added HR coils on its stabilization.
