Oppo sets up manufacturing base in India

Chinese mobile company, Oppo will now have India, as its second largest manufacturing base, followed by China, at the first place. Considering that the brand has seen a growing demand and have been able to catch the android market in India, the mobile maker, in an official statement, said, “Oppo Indian manufacturing units will serve as its second largest global manufacturing base after China to cater to the needs of markets in South Asia, the West Asia and Africa”.

Currently, the company is advancing on setting up an electronic manufacturing cluster, other than the six of its other companies in Greater Noida, with an investment of Rs. 3,500 crore. The project of setting up these units are expected to be completed by end of 2019. The India manufacturing units will be entitled to serve the Indian market along with the export demands. The India’s manufacturing unit of Oppo, shall be treated as their exporting hub. The company is in talks with its global partners on the same.

According to the International Data corporation, Oppo mobile handsets are always ranged between ₹20,000- ₹30,000. As a part of their global strategy, the company is also considerably open to enhance investments in their Research and development wing (R&D centre). It will be funding $1.4 billion to work on 5G, artificial intelligence and internet of things. The company has strategically planning to invest $1.4 billion, to work on 5G, artificial intelligence and for the Internet of Things (IoT). Oppo’s local R&D centre, which was started operations in December last year, has already started helping its operations across the globe. For instance, the recently launched 5G variant of Reno smartphone was jointly developed by the Hyderabad and Chinese R&D teams.
