WIDMA assists OEMs in enhancing their production processes by utilising cutting-edge technologies adhering to the industry’s highest standards in accuracy, reliability, and performance. It is recognised for high-performing machines that deliver on metal removal rates, drilling speeds, and depths, says Mathews John, Sales Manager, WIDMA.
India’s die and mould industry has been experiencing significant and steady growth. Researchandmarkets.com predicts that the Indian market will expand by over $1 billion from 2021 to 2025, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9 per cent. The market is being driven by pent-up demand in the automotive industry and substantial growth in sunrise sectors like healthcare, electronics and electricals, and plastics. Additionally, factors such as aluminium metal injection moulding, automation in die casting, increased construction activities, and the “Make in India” initiative will likely contribute to this growth.
In the automotive market, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) face challenges such as inflation and productivity. The demand for large machines that can handle complex and intricate die and mould requirements is rising, necessitating higher machining accuracy levels.
Kennametal’s machine tool building division, WIDMA™, based in Bengaluru, India, is helping OEMs improve their production processes by providing deep-hole drilling technologies that meet the industry’s accuracy and reliability standards and performance.
The UGC Series by WIDMA is designed for high-accuracy machining, multi-axis positioning, and deep-hole drilling in a single setup. The UGC Series is versatile and can handle a wide variety of materials and component sizes, and complexities. It can be configured with up to seven axes, including a CNC rotary table and spindle tilting feature, which allows customers to drill complex angles and structures in a single clamping setup. Additionally, the UGC Series can mill, tap, and bore with minimal setup changes, providing customers with the flexibility to optimise machining time and resources. The UGC Series can drill depths up to 2000mm and 40mm in diameter and support up to 30 tons.
At WIDMA, we strive to anticipate our customers’ needs and help them overcome manufacturing challenges. Our teams are dedicated to designing high-performance machines that drive efficiency and productivity while being easy to operate and requiring low maintenance. WIDMA machines feature adaptive machining technology that defines torque values to maintain operating levels and standards for accuracy. Additionally, the UGC Series machines offer linear glass scales and wireless probes.
WIDMA is a leading provider of customised metal-cutting CNC machines with high accuracy and productivity across industries. Established in 1984, WIDMA has diversified into customised, semi-standard, and standard machines for machining requirements, ranging from micro tools to large structural parts for the locomotive and general engineering industries. WIDMA is recognised for high-performing machines that deliver on metal removal rates, drilling speeds, and depths and works with some of the world’s most notable brands.
