Gunnebo strengthens its market position with BIS license [June 2012]

Gunnebo India Private Limited, a subsidiary of Gunnebo AB Group, Sweden one the leading suppliers of integrated security solutions have recently acquired licenses from a national Standards Body Bureau of Indian Standards, Government of India for its Minimax brand of Fire Extinguishers.
According to a company statement, “Gunnebo is the first company in India to receive this license post of new standards for fire extinguishers viz IS: 15683, starting this year by replacing the old standards. This license will further strengthen Gunnebo’s market position as the pioneer in fire protection in India by offering a complete range of fire safety products”. The century old fire extinguisher brand Minimax is the first one in India to get license for these standards. The current standards (IS: 15683) are performance-based and are similar to the standards being followed in most developed countries. It covers the entire range of portable fire extinguishers making it convenient to both the manufacturers and consumers. The new standards of fire extinguishers are manufactured at Gunnebo’s plant at Halol. The production has commenced in full swing and the products are also now available in the marketplace.
