“India to be a World Leader” [June 2012]

By June 19, 2012 10:28 am IST

The population in the next 30 years certainly can take us to the top in the world map and if the government initiates support to put the infrastructure in place, things would take a positive turn especially on the power front- Anil Joshi, VP – Sales & Marketing, Marks Pryor
Automotive industry evolvesThe impact of globalisation in the year 1992-1993 benefited the automotive industry tremendously. This factor paved way for several multinational companies like General Motors, Toyota among others to enter the Indian market. Meanwhile the auto component sector in India took shape owing to the downfall of the manufacturing sector in Europe.
Fundamentally, the auto component manufacturing along with automotive contributes immensely towards major growth in the Indian market which is helping the business to grow manifold. Emphasising on this fact, Anil Joshi, VP – Sales & Marketing, Marks Pryor said, “The Indian industry is on the right track of attaining manufacturing excellence. The growing export numbers are a clear indication of its growth. India is able to manufacture and design parts as per the market requirements in the world”. Moreover several companies from Europe and US are sourcing their components from India and are also setting up their office for designing their components which is an encouraging sign. A recent example is Rolls Royce setting up its plant in Bangalore through a strategic partnership with HAL. The joint venture company International Aerospace Manufacturing Private Limited (IAMPL) has set up a production facility of about 7,200 square metres where components of Trent family of civil aero engines, marine, and energy gas turbines will be produced commencing this year.
Be CommittedAs one of the most promising and growing industry, the Indian automotive industry has to overcome several challenges to cater to the growing domestic market. Lack of commitment is one of the major drawbacks that the sector faces. Mr. Joshi shares his opinion, “If every Indian works for a desired goal with commitment, things will certainly change. The difference between the Indian scenario and outside India is that overseas people are determined to their commitment don’t commit if it’s not possible. In India, many times we are quite optimistic and set targets which we feel are tough to achieve. My personal opinion is that we should commit what is achievable. Additionally, the infrastructure facilities also need to be improved”.
