Export Promotion Councils like the Plastics Export Promotion Council of India (PLEXCONCIL) play a crucial role in bridging the gap between the plastics manufacturing industry and government entities in the changing global trade landscape. The focus is on international trade , and PLEXCONCIL serves as a conduit for dialogue, advocacy, and support, ensuring the smooth functioning of this vital sector. 

One of the primary objectives of PLEXCONCIL is to provide unwavering support to its expansive network of over 3000 member exporters. PLEXCONCIL assists its members in navigating the complexities of global markets through various initiatives, including market research, organising India Pavilions at renowned and strategically identified international plastics expos, Reverse Buyer Seller Meets, leading trade delegations, policy advocacy, and redressals. PLEXCONCIL empowers its members to seize opportunities and overcome challenges in diverse international markets by offering crucial insights, facilitating business connections, and disseminating market intelligence.

The Executive Director leads PLEXCONCIL under the astute guidance of the Committee of Administration (COA) members. It is instrumental in steering the organisation towards sustainable growth and success. With the assistance of the vast experience and knowledge of the COA members, who are domain experts and represent the 13 panels covering nearly 500 products under various HSN codes, the ED devises comprehensive strategies that align with industry trends and regulatory frameworks. The act ensures that the plastics export industry thrives while adhering to stringent quality and compliance standards. PLEXCONCIL continuously evolves its approach to meet the growing and dynamic needs of exporters and upholds the Indian plastics exports industry, which is increasing its reputation as the world’s leading hub for sourcing plastics.

PLEXCONCIL aims to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of its members on the global stage through a range of innovative initiatives. As part of its numerous initiatives undertaken by the Council to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, PLEXCONCIL organised the First-ever export-focused exhibition for Plastics, PLEXCONNECT, in 2023. Following years of experience leading and interacting within a global marketplace, PLEXCONNECT was introduced as the ideal platform to empower manufacturers and exporters to embrace emerging trends, leverage cutting-edge technologies, and capitalise on new opportunities in the ever-evolving plastics market. With the support of the Ministry of Commerce, PLEXCONNECT was created to provide MSME exporters and new exporters with a world-class platform to understand global trends, network, and interact with international buyers.

The exhibition received support from Indian embassies and high commissions for actively promoting the platform and the Indian plastics industry. It proved extremely popular with international buyers who conducted business meetings with Indian exporters. The unique aspect of the exhibition lies in identifying strategic markets and genuine buyers participating in the RBSM during the exhibition, with MAI support.

Central to the mission of PLEXCONCIL is the facilitation of networking and collaboration among key stakeholders within the plastics ecosystem. The Council supports and closely works with other industry associations such as PLASTINDIA, PLASTIVISION, etc., as well as State Governments and ministerial departments to promote greater synergy between exporters, policymakers, industry experts, and other stakeholders to connect, exchange ideas, and forge mutually beneficial partnerships and growth across the plastics value chain.
